Finish and Review

Stamping finishes and naming the boat afterwards, then the finish sheet, sending it, getting it as files, PRO notes and closing the race.

Finish

A finish is two facts that arrive at different speeds: the time is instant, reading the boat takes a few seconds. So MARK records the time and nothing else, and you name the boat afterwards from the orange banners above the list. That is how every paper finish sheet has always worked, and it means a bunched finish is five taps of MARK, then five names.

Tap a banner and the picker opens: a keypad, because sail numbers are digits and a wet phone in the dark is no place for a keyboard. Two or three digits narrow the fleet to one boat. The picker also matches boat and skipper names (ABC on the keypad opens the letters) because a few boats race with no usable number, and a sail number shared by two boats shows both, each with her class.

ON APPROACH is the row of boats that have called in on the radio; it stays put while you scroll. The list switches between still racing, finished and out of the race. UNDO takes back the last thing you did; a finish on the wrong boat is moved from the boat’s own actions.

Review

Review is the finish sheet as it will go to the office, one tab per class, with elapsed, corrected time and the gap behind the class winner on each line, the gates (a class with no start, a stamp with no boat, a rating the check disputes), and the PRO’s notes.

SEND THE SHEET shares it as text, in a message or an email, and works with no signal. FILES uploads the sheet and a CSV and shares two links: a page at racing.slipside.app/sheet that prints cleanly and offers the CSV and the text to download, and the CSV itself. It needs signal; without it the button says so and SEND THE SHEET is the way.

PRO NOTES opens the same notes window as Setup, for anything worth writing down before the sheet goes.

The round button by the status pill syncs the session to the office; with signal it has usually synced already. HOLD TO CLOSE THE RACE closes the night after a hold, and the race goes on to Race Day on the web for scoring and posting. On a regatta day NEXT RACE opens the next one.

Still stuck? Email support@slipside.app and say which club and which race; a race officer’s question is answered the same day.
