Race Day on the web, and posting results now or later

The seven Race Day steps, what the phone sends up, posting results at once or at a set time, and what sailors see once they are up.

Also known as: race day, post results, publish, post now, post later, schedule results, scheduled post, withdraw a post, provisional, final, finishes, scoring, review, elapsed, corrected, behind, PRO notes, sync, series race only boats

Open a race from the event page and Race Day runs across the top in seven steps: Prep, Sync, Entrants, Finishes, Scoring, Review, Post. A step you cannot take yet says why.

Prep and Sync

Prep is the night’s plan as the phone will see it: classes, first warning, courses, the roster for this race. Only boats entered in this race are on it; a series entrant who skips a race scores DNC under the series rule and is not on the sheet. Sync is where Slipside RC’s session arrives when the phone has signal; a session that synced from the water is already here.

Entrants, Finishes, Scoring

Entrants is the roster with check-ins. Finishes lists every recorded time with the boat it was assigned to, any still unidentified, and the corrections made on the phone. Scoring applies the ratings and the course: the step names the rating column it scored on and any boat whose entered rating it kept as entered.

The race’s page also shows a PRO notes card when the race officer typed notes on the phone, in order with the time, so a note from the water is read in the office.

Review

Review is the finish sheet as it will post, one table per class with elapsed, corrected and the gap behind first, plus the gates: a boat with no class start, an unidentified stamp, a rating the check disputes. Fix what the gates name before posting.

Post now, or post later

Post now makes the results public that second: the event page, the sailor app, the results notifications. Post again on a posted race replaces what is up.

Post later sets a time instead. The default is nine the next morning; change it, press Set, and the step shows the time with Withdraw beside it (and Change time if you need another). Nothing is visible to sailors until that minute, when the post goes out exactly as it would have by hand, pushes included. The sheet as it stands at that minute is what posts, so a correction made in between is included. If a scheduled post fails, the step says so with the reason and a Clear button; post by hand.

Results post as Provisional. Marking a series Final is done once for the whole series, when the protest window and throwouts are settled.

Still stuck? Email support@slipside.app and say which club and which race; a race officer’s question is answered the same day.
