Putting crew on a race

Assign people from your roster to a particular race, see who has confirmed, and answer an assignment when you are the crew.

An assignment is a question with a name on it: can you sail this one? It goes to a person on your roster, for one race.

Assigning someone

  1. Mark the race with I’m in and tag the boat you own, so the race knows which boat it is about.

  2. Open the race and switch to the Crew tab.

  3. Tap Assign crew.

  4. Pick a sailor under WHO, optionally set a POSITION, and tap Assign.

Only sailors who have accepted a place on the boat’s roster appear here. If the list is empty, Slipside says so and offers Manage roster, which takes you back to Profile: invite them there first. See Your boat’s crew roster.

The person gets a notification immediately, and their row shows Pending until they answer.

Reading the lineup

The heading shows {confirmed}/{total} confirmed. The skipper is always the first row. Every other row shows the position and a status: Pending, Confirmed, Declined or Withdrawn.

Tap a member to Change position, Remove from lineup, or, for someone who has dropped out, Remove & replace, which opens the assign sheet again.

The same summary appears as a strip under the next race on My Races, so you can see where a lineup stands without opening anything.

Answering as crew

When a skipper assigns you, the race’s Crew tab shows a card headed YOUR SPOT with your position.

  • Can you make this race? with Confirm and Can’t make it
  • once confirmed, You’re confirmed and a Back out link, which asks once and tells the skipper
  • if you declined, You declined and the link I can make it after all

You can answer from Crew activity instead; it is the same thing.

Confirming matters for one more reason: confirmed crew get the race-day reminder too, if they have race reminders turned on.
