Units, theme, home harbor and racing regions

Switch between knots and mph, feet and metres, Fahrenheit and Celsius, choose light or dark, set your home harbor and pick which regions' racing you see.

Also known as: units, knots, mph, feet, metres, meters, fahrenheit, celsius, dark mode, light mode, theme, home harbor, harbor switcher, racing regions, other harbors, settings

All of these are in Profile.

Units & Display

Three rows: Wind speed (kt or mph), Heights (ft or m) and Temperature (°F or °C). Every screen changes at once.

One thing does not follow: the wind alert threshold is always in knots, because it is a fixed line rather than a display.

Appearance

Theme, Dark or Light. The sun or moon button at the top right of any screen does the same thing in one tap.

Home harbor

Where you keep your boat. It decides which harbor’s marine advisories and wind alerts you get, the racing defaults, and the club directory you land on.

That is different from the harbor switcher, the little pin next to the wordmark at the top of the screen. The switcher changes what you are looking at right now; the wordmark suffix turns amber to remind you that you are away from home. It never changes your home harbor.

Marina del Rey is the only live harbor at the moment, so both are quiet for now.

Racing regions

Which harbors’ racing shows up in your calendar, series list and past races. Seven regions from Santa Barbara to San Diego, each row naming the clubs it covers.

Your home harbor’s region is always on and cannot be switched off. Two things always come through whatever you choose: a destination race that starts or finishes here, and any race you have entered or are crewing on.

Where these are kept

Units, theme, briefing length and racing regions live on this phone, not on your account, so a new phone starts them at their defaults. Your home harbor, in contrast, is saved to your account and follows you.
