Entering a series from your phone
For the events whose club runs entry through Slipside: what you fill in, what the pricing options mean, and why no money moves in the app.
Also known as: register, registration, enter a race, enter a series, entry, entry fee, pay, payment, waitlist, withdraw, sign up for a series, sail number
Some clubs run their entries through Slipside. When they do, a registration card sits near the top of the series page. When they do not, the page offers a Register link out to the club’s own system instead, and that is the normal case today.
Entering
- Open the series page from Racing, then Series.
- On the card headed Registration is open, tap Register. Signed out, the card reads Sign in to register.
- Fill in the sheet:
- Your boat, if you have boats on your profile. Picking one fills in the rest.
- Sail number, exactly as it is on your sail. The caption says why: Exactly as it appears on your sail. Results match on this.
- Boat name and Skipper.
- Division, when the series has them.
- How do you want to enter?, when the club has set up options.
- Read the entry terms if the club posted any, turn on I agree to the entry terms, and tap Enter this event.
The pricing options
A club can offer the whole series, a single race, or a pack of races. Each option shows the club’s own label, how many race nights it covers, and its price, sometimes with a struck-through higher price and a green save $30.
What happens about money
Nothing is charged in the app. The card says so plainly: Nothing is charged in the app. The club confirms your entry and collects any fee the way it always has. Slipside records what you owe and how the club settles it, and the club collects it the way it always did, at the bar, by invoice or on its own site. Collected by the club means exactly that. If the club posts fees to member accounts, the fee line says posted to your club account instead.
After you enter
The card becomes You’re entered with your boat name and a status: Awaiting confirmation to begin with, then Confirmed once the club says so. If a fee is owed it is appended, for example · $120 due to the club. While registration is still open there is a Withdraw entry button; after it closes, withdrawing goes through the club.
Waitlists
When an event is full the card reads Registration is full · waitlist open and the button becomes Join the waitlist. Your entry is stored as Waitlisted. There is no queue position; the club works down the list and confirms entries itself.
