Changing your email or password
Change the email address on a password account with a six-digit code, and what to do instead when you signed in with Apple or Google.
Also known as: change email, new email address, wrong email, change password, update password, apple account, google account, managed by, six digit code, email code
Open Profile and scroll to Account. What you see depends on how you signed up.
Changing your email
For an account made with an email address and a password:
- Tap the email row, which reads Change.
- Type the New email and tap Send code. Nothing changes yet: We’ll email a code to the new address to make sure it reaches you. Nothing changes until you enter it.
- Open the new inbox, find the six-digit code, type it in and tap Confirm change.
You end on Email updated, and from then on you sign in with the new address. Your password does not change.
The code goes to the new address, so a typo simply means no code arrives; tap Use a different address and try again. Resend code is there if it is slow.
If you signed in with Apple or Google
The email row has no Change button. Instead it says Managed by your Apple account or Managed by your Google account, and to use a different address you change it with Apple or Google.
Those accounts have no Slipside password either, so there is nothing to change and nothing to reset. Everything else on your profile works exactly the same.
Changing your password
There is no “change password” row. Sign out, tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen, and set a new one with the six-digit code. See Signing in.
Blocked sailors
The Account section also holds Blocked sailors, which is the only place to see and undo blocks. See Reporting, blocking and the rules.
Still stuck? In the app, open Profile, then Help & Support, and use Send to support. Otherwise email support@slipside.app.
