Entering an event
The registration form step by step, what a first-timer with no saved boat should do first, and what Pending means afterwards.

Some clubs take entries through Slipside. Many still take them their own way, so the event page is where you find out: an Open or Late entry pill means you can enter here, and Closed means you cannot, though the club may still take one directly.
Before you start
Add your boat in the Slipside app first, if you have not. The entry form lets you type a boat name and sail number, but a typed-only boat carries no class and no PHRF rating, and the race committee will have to chase you for them. A saved boat fills all of it in and is there for every entry afterwards.
Check the sail number while you are there. It has to match what is painted on the sail, exactly, because that is how your finishes are matched to your boat.
Entering

Open the event and press Register.

If you are signed out, the first step is First, your account. Press Sign in or create an account. Apple or Google is one press and brings you straight back here.

On Your entry, pick your boat under Which boat?, or type one. The first saved boat is picked for you, so check it is the right one.

Fill in Sail number and Boat name. Both are required, and the button below stays greyed out until they have something in them. Skipper and Club are optional.

Pick a Division if the event has them. The hint says it plainly: division follows your rating, and the race committee moves you if it does not fit.

Under How many races?, pick a price option when the club offers more than one. A whole series is usually cheaper than race by race, and any saving is shown beside the option.

Tick I have read the entry terms and I agree to them when the club has set terms.

Press Continue to confirm, read the recap, then Submit entry.
The panel on the right, Entry summary, follows you through all of it with the event, the club, your option and the amount due.
After you submit
You land on You’re in, with your boat, sail, division and what you owe. If the club takes cards there is a Pay button here; see Paying your entry fee.
Your entry starts as Pending. That is normal:
Pending means the club has your entry and has not confirmed it yet. That is normal before race day; nothing more is needed from you.
The club confirms you before race day and you appear on their start list.
If the event is full
You get You’re on the waitlist instead. The club promotes boats as others withdraw and you will see the status change on your profile. If you need to sail, call the race chair.
An event can also fill between opening the form and pressing submit, so a waitlist can arrive without warning.
Changing or withdrawing
To withdraw, open your name at the top right, then Profile, and press Withdraw on the entry. There is no confirmation step, so be sure before you press it. Withdrawing does not refund you and does not clear what you owe; see Paying your entry fee.
Once entries have closed, the site refuses:
Registration has closed, so withdrawals go through the club now.
Anything else about an entry the club already has, including changing a boat or a division, is a conversation with the club.
Two things that catch people
One entry per person per event. Re-entering after you withdraw is not something the site can do; the club can re-enter you directly.
Your entry does not appear on the event’s public entry list. That list is the club’s own published roster. Yours is on the club’s list in their race office, which is the one the race committee uses.
