Paying your entry fee
Who the money goes to, the two ways clubs collect, why submitting an entry is not the same as paying for it, and how refunds work.

The fee is the club’s
Entry fees are collected in the name of the organizing club. The money goes to the club, the club’s name is what appears on your statement, and Slipside never holds it. Slipside’s share comes out of the club’s side rather than being added to your price, so you pay the number the club advertised.
The two ways clubs collect
The club collects directly. This is most events today. Your entry is recorded on the site and you pay the club the way you always have: a check, cash at the dock, or a charge to your club account. On the confirm step the club’s own instructions are shown, in their words. If they have not written any, it says the club will tell you how to pay.
Read that paragraph before you press submit. It is shown once, on that step, and the site does not repeat it afterwards.
By card, when the club has set it up. After you submit, a Pay button takes you to a secure payment page. The charge goes straight to the club.
Submitting is not paying
Worth saying plainly, because the wording on the confirm step suggests otherwise: pressing Submit entry records your entry, it does not take any money. For a card event the Pay button appears afterwards, on the confirmation screen and again on your entry in Profile. If you close the tab before paying, the entry is still there, unpaid, and the button is waiting for you.
What you owe, and where to see it
Open your name at the top right, then Profile. Each entry shows either:
- $120 paid, or
- $120 due to DRYC
Alongside it is your entry status: Pending, Confirmed or Waitlisted.
A whole series, or a pack
Where a club offers it, you can pay for a whole season in one go, usually for less than race by race. Some clubs sell packs of a few races. You see the options and any saving before you pay, on the How many races? step.
The price is fixed at the moment you enter. If the club puts its prices up later, what you owe does not change.
Refunds
Refunds go through the club, because the club holds the money. Ask the race chair; they can refund from their own dashboard and it shows on your entry.
Withdrawing from an event does not refund you and does not clear what you owe. Those are two separate things, and the second one is a conversation with the club.
Owing money never affects your results
A finish is a finish. Results and money are kept entirely apart, and no public page shows who owes what.
